As fencers we understand that we must train to become technically, tactically and physically better than our opponents! But how much mental training do you do?

Our mindset can be the important factor that makes the difference to our performances and results. Given this, how much attention do you pay to training this resource compared to technical, tactical and physical aspects of your performance?

Dr Jonathan Katz is an accredited high performance sports psychologist and British Fencing coach. He has coached fencers and supported athletes in some of the most stressful Paralympic, Olympic and Professional sporting environments and is also Team England Head Coach for the Senior Commonwealth Fencing Championships.

In this Zoom workshop, Jonathan will discuss some core mental skills that comprise components of a ‘performance mindset’, how to train them to achieve your optimum performance. This workshop will encourage self-awareness by recognising your individual responses to pressure and then provide psychological techniques and strategies to enhance your personal performance mindset.

The session is suitable for coaches and junior, senior and veteran fencers of all weapons. We will be taking live questions from attendees which we will aim to help with in the context of the presentation.

A recording of the session will be made available for attendees for personal use only.

The joining link for the Zoom room will be sent an hour before the session starts.
